The 法国 Program

The 法国 program at Skidmore offers a wide range of opportunities for students to explore the languages 和 cultures of the 法国-speaking world, both inside 和 outside of the classroom. There are many pathways through the 法国 program, whether students want to immerse themselves in the 主要 和 小, or integrate 法国 with their other academic interests.

我们提供 courses in 法国 at all levels. Students in our elementary 和 intermediate courses steadily build their language skills 和 confidence while getting acquainted with the wide variety of global francophone cultures. In our upper-level electives, students develop proficiency through advanced language study 和 topics courses taught in 法国 on francophone cultures, literatures, 和 current events. Students also have the chance to use their 法国 to connect to other academic disciplines through our Language Across the Curriculum (LAC) courses.

Students are invited to take their 法国 beyond the classroom by stopping in at the regular Pause-café conversation hour, flipping their own crêpe at the annual Soirée crêpes, attending the bi-annual Skidmore 法国 Film Festival, or participating in our many other activities. We also encourage students to get involved in the student-run 法国 club, which hosts events throughout the year.

When students are ready to take their 法国 off campus, they have the opportunity to live 和 learn abroad through Skidmore in France or one of the other programs offered by Off-Campus Studies & 交流.
